Meet a Fierce Peirce Parent and Community Leader: Chris Inserra

Adios amigos
Good-bye my friend
Hasta la vista
Until we meet again
When you know somebody’s name
You become a friend
No longer strangers
You can smile again
Adios amigos
Good-bye my friend
Hasta la vista
Until we meet again
song and lyrics by Chris Inserra

Chances are, if you’re a parent of a preschooler or kindergartenter at Peirce, you’ve heard your child sing this song either in the classroom or at home.  Chris introduced this song 14 years ago when her oldest son, Nathan, started preschool with Ms. Pierce; Nathan, then had kindergarten with Ms. Mendez, our current principal.  Gabriel, her second son, followed three years later, also under the preschool guidance of Mrs. Pierce. Both Nathan and Gabriel graduated from Peirce. Her daughter, Debra, is currently in 6th grade as part of the new middle years program.
A church choir director, community activist, and singer with the well known Chicago social justice group “Voices”, Chris has devoted many years at Peirce in the music program, the MPTSO,  and PUENTE.  She is currently serving as Chair for the LSC.
Meet Chris and other proud, fierce Peirce parents at one of the next Peirce Parent Group Meetings.  Whether your children are in pre-school or eighth grade, new members are always welcomed.  Come and connect with families across the grades and learn how you can make a difference at your child’s school. Hasta la vista!
