Peirce Playground Clean Up Pictures!

Peirce's Playground Clean-up was a Shining Success....
Ms. Hopkins led Peirce student council members, family volunteers & teacher/staff volunteers on a wonderfully windy Saturday as all combed the Peirce campus for debris and garbage.
In all, approximately 250 lbs. of refuse were collected and tossed.  We appreciated our very motivated middle-schoolers who teamed up to tip the scales with trash.
Also, Ms. Hopkins led a group of volunteer gardeners who planted some pretty annuals in our garden.  Well Done to all!

Fiesta de Arte, mucho gracias to all !

Peirce artist - Ashley - Fiesta de Arte 2011
Many thanks to all who helped make the first Fiesta de Arte fundraiser a wonderful evening at Peirce School.   The Peirce community turned out - reports have the attendance at 275 attendees - to support the many student artists at Peirce School.

Much thanks and appreciation to Beth Tenney & Kim Biggs and the many volunteers that helped create a wonderfully artful "street fair" in the hallways of Peirce.
Appreciation is also to be shared with Vaugh High School who provided the tasty culinary delights.  The food received as much rave as the student artists.  One parent was overheard commenting that "this was the best food I've ever had in a school".

As the art displays delighted and inspired all, so did the activity tables of Origami, Face Painting, Balloon Tying, and Silly Family Portraits.

Community musicians seranaded the Fiesta-goers throughout the evening including, Zane, Isaiah (on guitars), Hillary Bayley quartet (Music for Kids), Peirce drum circle, & SDS Trio (featuring our own Mr. Strening).

*** Special thanks for the donations of time, talent & treasure from our many Peirce parents ***

Rebecca Eichenlaub, Morgan Anderson, Christine Pinalto, Ms. Tarrant, & Maynor Vidal - all shared their photography skills.

From decorating the hallways, to hanging art, arranging the auction displays, and clean-up there were fabulous volunteers that helped us stage this event.

Thank you to our many teachers & Ms. Beers (our contract art teacher) who gathered classes to create collaborative pieces to sell  and donated auction items themselves.
by Peirce artist Kindergartner, Mila - Fiesta de Arte 2011
And thank you to the Peirce student artists who created magical art....

Teachers and Staff: We Appreciate You!

“WHOSE CHILD IS THIS?”
author unknown

"Whose child is this?" I asked one day
Seeing a little one out at play
"Mine", said the parent with a tender smile
"Mine to keep a little while
To bathe his hands and comb his hair
To tell him what he is to wear
To prepare him that he may always be good
And each day do the things he should"
"Whose child is this?" I asked again
As the door opened and someone came in
"Mine", said the teacher with the same tender smile
"Mine, to keep just for a little while
To teach him how to be gentle and kind
To train and direct his dear little mind
To help him live by every rule
And get the best he can from school"
"Whose child is this?" I ask once more
Just as the little one entered the door
"Ours" said the parent and the teacher as they smiled
And each took the hand of the little child
"Ours to love and train together
Ours this blessed task forever."
